January 2021 Newsletter
Happy New Year! Even though the holidays looked different for us this year, we hope you were able to find rest and joy this past season. We’re looking forward to the changes and hope that 2021 brings.
We wanted to take a moment to address the distressing events that have dominated our news for the past several weeks, specifically the increasing violence, harmful rhetoric, and growing division between political ideologies here in the U.S. It’s easy to get caught up in a cycle of fear, anger, overwhelm, hopelessness, and helplessness, and we sometimes feel as if anything we can say or do won’t have much of an impact or contribute in any significant way to the bigger picture of peace and justice that we strive toward. But then we remember that yoga gives us the tools to help make a difference. We believe that real change, lasting change, to our culture, to our beliefs, to our society, to our world must start with individuals. We are all on the path of growth, improvement, and change from the moment of our birth, and yoga gives us tools to help us along that path. From Ahimsa (non-violence) and Satya (truthfulness) to Svadhyaya (introspection) and Santosha (non-attachment), yoga helps us to heal ourselves and to see the truth of who we are, even as we’re striving to touch our toes or hold a handstand.
So, it is our intention to hold safe, loving, and accepting space for you as you “journey on your mat,” whatever that looks like for you. We are all one, and we each have our own work to do as we walk our paths. It is our honor to walk with you and support you.
Lisa has added a new All Welcome yoga class on Google Meet on Tuesdays 4:30-5:30 pm. The class is donation-based (pay what you want), and you can sign up by replying to this email or by contacting her directly at lisaclefee@gmail.com. Her online classes at The Pharm are still available (Yoga for Larger Bodies on Wednesdays at 10:30 am and Chair Yoga on Sundays at 11:30 am). You can register at www.thepharm.love for both of those classes.
Robin has added a Mindfully Moving Yoga class on Fridays at 9:30 am via Zoom. Her classes on Tuesdays at 6:30 pm and Thursdays at 11:30 am via Zoom are continuing as well. Please reply to this email or contact her directly at harmonyaccessibleyoga@gmail.com if you are interested in attending and she will send you an invitation.
And if you like podcasts, Lisa is featured on The Pharm Community Podcast this week. In it, she talks about how her yoga journey began and how she’s found her calling teaching Accessible Yoga. You can find the podcast on both Apple and Spotify, or at the link above.
Finally, we wanted to remind you that we have created a 1-2 minute survey to gauge your interest in adding new classes to our teaching schedule. If you haven’t already done so, please click on this link to go to our Google survey where you can help us assist you in creating classes and class times that will meet your needs!
With hearts filled with love and gratitude,
Lisa and Robin
